Again, many years ago, after several attempts, Critter got her limit of three greater prairie chickens in Nebraska and then a limit of 3 sharp tail grouse in South Dakota, that same day. We had incidentally taken the three and three dual limit a few years earlier. That was the day that I realized that even though both state daily bag limits of prairie grouse were in aggregate, that didn't mean that I couldn't intentionally take just three sharp tails in one state and just three chickens in the other.
The difficult limit was prairie chickens. In a typical day of mixed bag shooting it was unusual for me to bag even one chicken in a three bird prairie grouse limit. But I eventually discovered a couple of ranges and meadows that typically held chickens and I believe it was a year later that Critter and I were successful in taking the combination limit.
