I don't know that bird hunting would or could be more enjoyable to those who don't than whatever they're currently doing. But there's a romanticism to bird hunting with a dog, similar to fly fishing, that once experienced, fills your idle hours with a yearning to return. Those idle hours feel multiplied and even more resentful when you think of what you're missing.
